Campaigners staged a protest in Leicester city centre today to call for a pay rise for NHS staff and care workers.

“We need to build a movement in our communities and our unions that fights for fair wages.”

Jessica Collins, a student nurse in Leicester, gave a speech.

“There was were so many drivers honking their horns in support that we had difficulty hearing Jessica’s speech,” said Tim.

“Mind you, that is a nice problem to have. We appreciate the support from the public.”

He said similar rallies had been staged in other cities throughout the country two week ago but was delayed in Leicester by the coronavirus lockdown extension.
